Well, if it's not clear already, Mr B and I (mainly I) have been hunting for new places to eat and/or drink.
Following our insane visit to Cupcake Cafe in my home town Prestatyn, I've been keeping my eye out for a more local version in Bristol... and like magic.. The Beehive Coffee House in Bristol appeared on my Facebook wall... what a COINCIDENCE (or a result of the crazy tracking features built in to Facebook.. I'll let you decide!).
We headed here the Monday after we got back from Portugal thinking it would be fairly quiet.. WE WERE WRONG!
We got to Downend at about 12pm and the little cutesy/modern cafe was rammed, luckily the weather wasn't too bad so we grabbed one of the small tables outside.
Ok.. the main thing we came here for the milkshakes (I'm not going to lie haha) but they had pastries and cakes on the counter and a nice looking range of hot/cold food to order.
Back to the main feature.... freakshakes!!!
They have them listed on little chalkboards displayed on little easels on the main counter (sooo cute!). There's a few on there but Mr B and I both opted for the Chocolicious - we weren't going to share!!!
So we ordered (prices are very reasonable!), plonked our bottoms outside and about 10 minutes later two massive milkshakes, each with a sugared donut, cream and chocolateon top, were brought out to us... you could've easily had a sugar rush by looking at these (I'm not complaining!).
There had to be a tactical approach to attack this one...
- Step 1 - Have a funny picture (see below)
- Step 2 - Eat the chocolate and cream
- Step 4 - Eat the donut
- Step 3 - Drink the chocolatey milk
I really do recommend Beehive Coffee House if you're Bristol based, it's a very nice, friendly, independant cafe - and most importantly 'Home of the Freak Shakes'.
Only think to point out - if you're heading there for freakshakes on the weekend, going by their Facebook page and how busy they were on a normal Monday afternoon, they can and do sell out pretty quickly so make sure you head there early... freakshakes for brunch right?
Thanks for reading!
Hannah
