Holiday Times - Praia Da Rocha - Portugal

Good evening :)

It's soooo good to back blogging, though it's two days later than I planned (I spontaneously decided to deep clean the flat on my two days off after getting back from Portugal, as you do!)

I thought I'd kick back off with a little review of Mr B and I's trip to Portugal.

This is my first beach holiday in Europe and only my second beach holiday ever so I was quite excited to say the least - and I could not wait to get out there and have a break!
We headed to Hotel Jupiter in Praia Da Rocha in the Algarve for one blissful week, check out the beach which was opposite our hotel....

Our hotel was situated on the left hand side, just out of shot!

In October I found a great deal on British Airways website for flights and hotel with bed and breakfast for about £450 for the WHOLE week - Everyone is probably sick of me raving about British Airways package holidays but this is our second time using them and it won't be the last. It has plus points on customer service, in flight experience and best of all PRICEEEE! Booking the flights and hotel through British Airways, choosing one night stay at Gatwick with airport parking via Holiday Extras was cheaper than using EasyJet to fly from Bristol.. no brainer!!

Hotel Jupiter is on the main strip in Praia Da Rocha - we had a room at the back of the hotel (see views below) and we hardly heard any noise.

There were only two downsides to the hotel - their evening buffet meal isn't worth the bother (breakfast is lush!) and sadly, as it's only just started to warm up over there the Hotel's pool was freezing cold :(
As an alternative to the outdoor pool we ventured into the Spa one evening and paid for the Hydrotherapy Circuit - For 10 euros each it was lovely to spend 90mins in the hydrotherapy pool, and a tad romantic and it's so calmly lit in there and also not many people, bonus!!

The hotel itself is several hundred yards from the beach, you simply cross the road, go down some steps then along a wooden walk way and tah dah! You're on one of the nicest beaches...

Foodwise there is plenty of choice of places, with cheese and ham toasties, burgers and chicken piri-piri are popular dishes on every menu!

Our favourite places were:
  • Ireland's Eye - An Irish Themed Pub that does a cracking chicken salad!! No fancy stuff, just normal salad - carrot, onion, lettuce, tomato, sweetcorn, cabbage, tons of chicken and a side of mayonnaise.
  • Lena's Gourmet Cafe - Beautiful crepes and lovely fresh juices.
  • Cletonia Restaurant - More of an Italian themed restaurant but soo nice :) We ate in here on our last-but-one night  - the garlic bread is really tasty and the bolognaise has so much flavour.
In summary, it was a really nice holiday and a well deserved break and I would highly recommend the hotel and this beach, the beach was beautiful!

Thanks for reading :)
