Work, shop, work shop, work, shop, FREAKSHAKE!

Evening :)

I'm making a conscious effort to get back to the things I want to blog and ramble about as it's a nice release for me - this has been really hard over the last couple of months due to the extra hours I've been having to put in at work which sadly has been leaving me energy-less in the evenings and I kid you not, most weekends where something hasn't been happening I have been sleeping ALL the time!!

Back to the topic in hand, a few months back Mr B and I had a couple of our best friends over for the weekend and knowing the local freakshake hub would've been rammed on a Saturday, I decided we would make our own!!!

In order to do a freakshake any sort of justice, the following goodies came back from a little shop to M&S and B&M Bargains (aside from the eggs..)....

I found our freakshake glassware at The Range for £1 each... I put a post on my Instagram recently as New Look sell the same ones for £6.99 each... I'm sure you can do maths but that's £5 difference per glass.. insane!!

And so the messiness began - A word of advise pre-freakshake, make sure you agree for the other person/people to do the washing/tidying up :) (they will not know what sort of tornado is about to happen in the kitchen!!)

Step 1 - Preparing The Glasses

These would be boring freakshakingly boring if not for the most messy, stickiest substance known to man of Marshmallow Fluff and a good splatter of Nutella!
We splattered the Nutella in the glasses using a spoon and dipped the rims of the glasses into a bowl of Marshmallow Fluff to get the below effect...

For extra topping we added crushed up rainbow cookies.. just because :)

Step 2 - Preparing The Milkshake
.
This was the least messy step and included my very loud food processor!
We put in milk, ice cream, Nesquik chocolate powder, vanilla essence.... AND CRISPY M&MS along with a few Cadbury's chocolate fingers thrown in for good measure.
All whizzed up together and it was ready to pour!!

 Step 3 - Serving Up!

I have to admit that it took my friend and I (the boys agreed to clean if we made the freakshakes!) nearly an hour to get these ready but boy was it worth it :)

The pouring took place with a 'dash' of squirty cream....

We chopped up a swiss roll from M&S to add to the top, along with some Cadbury Caramel buttons and some of the other chocolate fingers... and some Cadbury's flakes..

FINALLY.. we were ready to carry the mammoth, chocolate heavy, calorie laden beautiful mountains of joy to the lounge for us to consume... and within 10 minutes the below creations were gone. Gone, but never forgotten!!

I highly recommend making your own freakshakes as it's so fun to do! As long as you don't mind the mess (or at least have someone to tidy it up after you!) it's well worth the effort :)

Happy freakshaking and thanks for reading!

Back to Blog!!

Good evening and I'm sorry for the prolonged absence!!

Over the last couple of months I've need to focus a lot of my day job (lots and lots of overtime!!) which hasn't left all that much spare time outside of work where I'm not sleeping :)
Alas September is here - whilst it's one of my busiest months work wise - I'm making more time to blog!!

I hope you're all well and below is little taster of some posts coming your way very soon....

First up, as you can tell from previous posts I've developed a little thing for Freak-shakes so it was only right to make my own, right?
It was extremely fun, mega messy and I can't wait to share the process with you :)

I've also plunged in the world of NYX cosmetics whilst I was down Exeter for the weekend (before it hit a Boots store here in Bristol)... review and swatches are on their way!!

Another great serving of afternoon tea delights coutesy of Chocks Away Diner in Deeside on a trip home to see the family :) How cute were the tea cups??

That's definatley some tasty gin in those glasses below... Mr B and I have been on a gin-tasting experience courtesy of Mr B's mum and dad finding him a superb birthday present!

I got a bit crafty for one of my best friend's baby shower and made the below babycake - details to follow (it was cute and made me more broody..whoops!!)...

My birthday has sadly been and gone but I got a few gorgeous things I want to share with you!! Cannot wait to try Tanya Burr's Tanya Bakes book... some of the things in there look A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!

In need of some organisation with my desk at work, led me to purchase stationary for there as well as home. Sainsbury's have some lush products at the moment and I want to share these with you - sneak peak below if you can't wait :)

And most recently, a little haul from some shopping today including some Kiko nail varnishes at £2.50 per bottle and look so sparkly - I can't wait to try them!

I'll leave it there for tonight (as Mr B is bugging me to get off the laptop!) but I'll be back with a post later on this week :) Happy Monday for tomorrow!!

Thanks for reading!!

Food Review: Beehive Coffee House - More insane milkshakes!!!

 Good evening :)

Well, if it's not clear already, Mr B and I (mainly I) have been hunting for new places to eat and/or drink.

Following our insane visit to Cupcake Cafe in my home town Prestatyn, I've been keeping my eye out for a more local version in Bristol... and like magic.. The Beehive Coffee House in Bristol appeared on my Facebook wall... what a COINCIDENCE (or a result of the crazy tracking features built in to Facebook.. I'll let you decide!).

We headed here the Monday after we got back from Portugal thinking it would be fairly quiet.. WE WERE WRONG!
We got to Downend at about 12pm and the little cutesy/modern cafe was rammed, luckily the weather wasn't too bad so we grabbed one of the small tables outside.

Ok.. the main thing we came here for the milkshakes (I'm not going to lie haha) but they had pastries and cakes on the counter and a nice looking range of hot/cold food to order.

Back to the main feature.... freakshakes!!!

They have them listed on little chalkboards displayed on little easels on the main counter (sooo cute!). There's a few on there but Mr B and I both opted for the Chocolicious - we weren't going to share!!!

So we ordered (prices are very reasonable!), plonked our bottoms outside and about 10 minutes later two massive milkshakes, each with a sugared donut, cream and chocolateon top, were brought out to us... you could've easily had a sugar rush by looking at these (I'm not complaining!).

There had to be a tactical approach to attack this one...
  • Step 1 - Have a funny picture (see below)
  • Step 2 - Eat the chocolate and cream
  • Step 4 - Eat the donut
  • Step 3 - Drink the chocolatey milk
These were soooo tasty and proved to inspiration for attempting to make our own freakshakes (post coming soon!!).
I really do recommend Beehive Coffee House if you're Bristol based, it's a very nice, friendly, independant cafe - and most importantly 'Home of the Freak Shakes'.

Only think to point out -  if you're heading there for freakshakes on the weekend, going by their Facebook page and how busy they were on a normal Monday afternoon, they can and do sell out pretty quickly so make sure you head there early... freakshakes for brunch right?
